CASE STUDIES · POST-PRODUCTION

Full post-production and preparation of the special premiere screening of Maxim Genchev’s The Deacon Levski in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

Role and scope

My work on the film included editing, online editing and finishing, as well as post-production supervision. This case study follows the connection between completing the film and preparing it for its special premiere screening.

The challenge

The premiere in Hall 1 required preparation of both the image and sound playback. At the time, the hall did not have a 5.1 sound system.

Preparing the screening

A 5.1 sound system was specially installed for the premiere. The screening was prepared at full resolution in two parts of 150 minutes each — 300 minutes in total. This running time refers to the special premiere screening.

From the final master to the venue

This case study shows how post-production extends beyond the final master: preparing a specific screening and accounting for the venue’s technical conditions.
